The Curl Experience

How to prepare
for your cut.

A few simple things you can do before your visit to make sure we see your curls the way they really are — and give you the best cut possible.

01Step

Arrive with your curls in their natural state

Don’t arrive with a ponytail, bun or hair up. No styles that stretch or change your natural curl pattern. We cut dry, curl by curl, so we need to see your curls the way they fall.

02Step

Don’t brush, pick or comb your hair out

Detangle in the shower while wet and conditioned. Once dry, leave your curls alone so we can see how they sit naturally.

03Step

Wash 24–48 hours before your appointment

Cleanse, condition and style with no styling product on the day of your appointment. Avoid sulfates, silicones and heavy oils in the lead-up.

04Step

Skip heavy oils and butters

Avoid shea butter, coconut oil and similar products that weigh hair down or alter your pattern.

05Step

Bring photos if you have them

Examples of styles, shapes or lengths you love help us create a look that feels right for you.

06Step

Don’t flat-iron or blow-dry straight

We need to see the real shape and spring of your curls. If your hair has been recently straightened we may need to reschedule.
